Artist's Comments

Well this is my first attempt at modeling something in Zbrush, be gentle as it took me the better part of 3 hours and some tutorials to even learn how to use it much less make something remotely coherent. I hope it was actually worth me getting this program at least and if it isn't total trash I will develop my skills to make even more cool things. This dragon head is loosely based on my Dragon king sketch and i wanted to give him a well textured and natural skin, hope it is up to par :)

Very good work...it´s very intimidate

That's pretty darn cool, especially for your first attempt :) I like that, while it's clearly a western dragon, there's still an eastern influence to it.

well i know what you mean about zbrush, it was a beotch to get a hold to and not pay a buttload of cash for , but i have to say the interface may be intuative for a modeling program but when you are sooooo used to programs like cs4 and painterX it is like culture shock getting used to . If this is your first attempt at a dragon, holy shit , you must have a knack for it cause my first attempt just looked like a ball of beat up clay, If you know of any good links to good Tutorials don't be bashful about sharing the love .... Later -Jer

I had a lot of practice sculpting with clay and plaster, so I had some prior experience with sculpting. I must say it was a bit akward at first but a basic grasp was all I needed to at least be able to try it out.

The official ZBrush site has many detailed tutorials on it, it is sort of a classroom lite, I did find that some of the things they did and I mimicked exactly did not do what they were illustrating. Youtube also has some neat tricks and has the most useful tutorials I have found for both Zb and Mudbox.
